Concept: instead of a generic jumpscare where the monster just jiggles, how about it just grabs you and holds it's face in yours, you can't move since it holds you but it can't either since you're looking at it. Your only way out is accepting your fate and closing your eyes... (i think this could instill a real claustrophobic sense of fear into the players, since being grabbed and unable to escape is imo more terrifying than just a monster screaming at you, but testing is required)

This could be insane in VR, imagine along with the blink detection it also did things like put a monster in the view of peripheral vision but as soon as the eyes wander to look at it the monster vanishes

I told my mum about Containment Breach in like 2016. She asked if the game actually knew whether you were blinking in real life or not

I think the scariest jumpscare for this game would be completely blind. You blink, it has a hold of you, 1 hand poised to crush your eyes. Blink again, no more visuals, just the sounds of pure agony, tendons snapping, skin tearing, the character screams, and then goes silent.

"Don't blink. Don't even blink. Blink and you're dead. They are fast, faster than you can believe. Don't turn your back. Don't look away. And don't blink. Good luck."

the weeping angel is based upon a lovecraftian story about statues that move when you blink. in the story the main character solved the problem by cutting off his eyelids.

that intro explains why containment breach is still such a good horror game, scp-173 is literally a weeping angel, but you blink from time to time, making it a much bigger threat.

I think there's a missed potential here, you have this creature that doesn't attack when your looking at it, you can even bump into it and if your looking at it you don't die; the death should have been able to be paused by keeping your eyes open, not escapable at that point, but knowing that you're got, and that as soon as you blink you're truly dead? Chilling.

0:55 actually, the point Schrodinger was trying to make with the cat example was that he didn't really believe in quantum physics (it was a very new discovery at that point and still quite contentious). he was trying to show how absurd and obviously wrong it was by proposing something ridiculous.

The funny part about the doctor who weeping angels is that they are actually so underpowered they had to give them the ability to drain energy so that they could flicker lights (If they didn't then a singular person could alternate their eyes blinking to never get the sight off of them)

The only tip I could have it would be to not show the monster in posters, because the less you see, the scarier it is. Our minds fright us more than anything else.

That's where SCP: Containment Breach had a really cool idea by introducing a Blink Mechanic and a (I wanna call it) "Peripheral" Mechanic. The Blink meter slowly lowers every second but resets the moment you press a certain key and it's very much a tactic thing. If you're exposed to smoke, your meter runs out faster but you can put on a gasmask that prevents this...though it lowers your field of view.
The "Peripheral" Mechanic helped the player touch items they couldn't directly see by having a hand symbol appear, click on it and it allows you to touch something behind you or to your left/right so you can keep focus on something while interacting with door buttons and other stuff. I'm actually REALLY surprised you didn't mention Containment Breach because it was not only a great game with tons of creepy/cool mechanics but it was played by my classmates in the library all the time. It was actually my intro the concept even.
Your game looks awesome and I'm curious to see where it goes!

The Mori stylization was very visually interesting, I think I would be amazing to see it come back for a different game

Imagine a feature where yo have to close your eyes in order to hear a code or exit door. Could be an interesting feature combined with the blinking mechanic

Imagine the death animation progressed as you blink in reference to the weeping angels not always insta killing.
