I honestly don’t get why people try to climb without supplemental oxygen before they have climbed it with supplemental oxygen.

As a Nigerian, I’m deeply sad to see his outcome. But huge props to my Kenyan brother for striving for greatness in this marathon we call life.

What a shame. I'm sure he would have made it he had he used oxygen.....and it would have been such a defining moment for him and all Africans.

If you’re going to Everest to prove a point, don’t go to Everest.

No oxygen is the same as swimming while holding breath. You only have a very limited of time

You all didn't watch the whole video. The man was sent up there with a novice sherpa who was not equipped with the knowledge to lead this type of expedition.

Kalejins are wonderful people.
They have a genuinely humble disposition, you go to eldoret and you'll meet world record holders walking around in the streets like they have done nothing.
Very humble humans.

A lot of comments focusing on the hubris of the climber but not the dishonesty of the sherpa who was not honest with disclosing his lack of qualification (the company was dishonest first, yes, but the sherpa also should have realized the risk when informed of what kind of expedition this was)
It very well could have been the case the climber could have succeeded or at least failed and made it back safely had he gone with a qualified sherpa, or if he had perished, it would 100% be his hubris without a doubt
