Thank you so much for making this video -- and for all the rest of the excellent work you do on this channel! We're so honored to be included on this list and deeply thankful for all the audience support we receive. This is a stressful time for scientists and science communicators alike, but we are heartened to be part of this community.

Science videos are why I pursued a physics degree. In high school, I was constantly told I couldn't do anything academic but following along with youtube has made it possible for me to actually have a good GPA in physics. It's beyond curiosity. These videos change lives, especially for people like me who have disabilities that cause people to think I'm too stupid without these resources

It sad that we live in a world where misinformation on a rise while actually valuable knowledge is gonna get harder to find

Don't forget to learn how to attend council meetings and local government. You would be SHOCKED how big of a difference just a couple people consistently showing up can make. Local politicians have rarely had to deal with insistent people who can't be bought face to face. They crumple if a notable portion of the room's against them every week someone they can't run from. You can get a lot of minor changes made or stopped, sometimes in direct opposition to federal ruling. Get with local like-minded groups! A decent amount of attendees obviously against them, week after week, really gets under thier skin even if none of you sign up for a chance to speak. The absolute tone shift when I changed phone numbers confirmed that my locals recognized my number, outside the emails essentially reading "As these 3 people asked me to, I am responding to you directly."
Even on a macro level, flood senatorial phones. These people don't really acknowledge email often, but they do understand phone call pressure.

2:24 also consider supporting people who preserve the research being deleted, or work as a part of it

It makes me so mad that people will say "private research will replace this" like 1) how gullible can you be and 2) private research is, by definition, incentivized to keep research private and self-serving, and the work can't be freely shared for other researchers to benefit. It's like people are rooting for more corruption and dirtier business practices to win.

"There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there always has been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that "my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge'."
- Isaac Asimov

One channel you should add to the description is PBS Spacetime. It's hard to find resources that explain high-level physics in as much depth as they do while still making it understandable, so getting rid of it would be a massive blow to physics communication. They have over 3 million subscribers (more than PBS itself), get about 600,000 views per weekly video, and almost have half a billion views total. That said, unless they could somehow privatize, I don't think Patreon will do much, so probably the best thing people can do is try to archive as many of their videos as possible so we can at least keep the current ones. As a physics student, it is a very unique resource, so hopefully, people can figure something out.

So much more is funded by our taxes than I thought... It’s really surprising

So I thought YouTube channels like Mr. Beast, stupid lazy reactions channels, that fake prank channels were about destroyed not science one. We need science on this platform more then ever

China is heavily investing in research, development, and even giving "grants" to US researchers, while the US is cutting its own research. A good way to lose your lead and let someone else that the first place in a race.

It’s sad how misinformation/pseudoscience is being promoted to people on the internet and in real life.

They used to say that a public job was low pay. but safe. As a professor you worked around the clock for relatively low pay, but you were set for life. When government is described as "finicky", when the very foundation of our scienctific research (the one that will not be immediately turned into a patent and a truckload or ten of money) is at risk, things are bad.
And this is not just US.

Cutting science funding doesn't just hurt researchers it affects all of us. Knowledge should be accessible to everyone, and this could take that away.
