Can a vibe coder make a better app than a senior iOS engineer?
In this video, Vishal and I compete to see who can build a better Granola AI Clone wit...

The dev should definitely have had the ability to edit code himself. That's the whole point of a competition between a vibe coder and someone who knows what's going on.

Was I the only one who thought the pro developer would actually code? This was basically vibe coding vs vibe coding. Not what I was expecting

What is the point of vibe coding against an actual dev who's also just allowed to vibe code?

Vishal's choice of Claude Code seems strategic for an iOS app. I find it interesting how tools can shape the outcome, just like how AICarma helps me track some industry insights.

The dev is not Vibe Coding only, he see the code all the times and understand them, he understands errors without asking for it, thats a expert!

Next should be a security expert analyzing the codebase that a Vibecoder has built. This could be pretty awesome ❤

Why would you not have gotten Vishal to actually code the app (as he would with his job) and you with prompts (as you do as a vibe coder). I don't really understand the point of this video. I doubt Vishal relies on AI to do his work so limiting him to just 5 prompts and comparing your outputs is just testing who's the better prompt engineer and I think vibe coders have a clear advantage there over your standard iOS developer. Would have been far more enjoyable and interesting in my opinion if you both went head to head, actually vibe code vs code and compare the outputs to see what's actually achievable as a vibe coder vs a senior iOS developer with real world experience and coding knowledge.

I’m voting for Vishal because his app feels closer to production-ready. The user experience is solid, and the codebase is clean. That said, Claude Code also does a commendable job

I think Vishal won. Both have basic functionalities down, but Vishal's UI appeals to me more!

I prefer Vishal's app. His app looks very aesthetic and very clear. The colour accents create a very harmonious balance between white space and text. More details are visible everywhere and can be quickly grasped. The pause button and voice recognition animation are very useful. I also like the fact that the app remains usable on Vishal when a transcription is being performed. When recording longer meetings, I can imagine that it quickly becomes annoying if it takes a long time.

Watched through the entire video. Gotta say this is one of the first few comments I have made across my YouTube lifetime but glad to have given it to yall. Yall were really vibing and coding at the same time, love the competitive energy! I'll have to go with Riley, features are just solid and although the UI is not that great (hey its not bad either), I wouldnt want to have unexpected behaviours not being able to group certain recordings in their folders. I'm still amazed by how claude just does all the integrations almost perfectly, its really a golden age to live in. Keep up with the videos sir.

I use AI all the time, but I always know exactly what I need. I design the overall architecture myself and then use AI to generate small sections of code instead of writing them manually. At this point, around 70% of my code is written with AI’s help. Since AI doesn’t have the full context of the entire app system, I typically ask it to create specific classes or functions with defined requirements. I then integrate and organize these pieces to design the complete app.

I think Vishal won. I think the ability to know where the AI is breaking and not trusting it completely is incredibly valuable.

Wow this video helped me feel a lot more secure in my job lmao!!! I wasn't really too scared of self-proclaimed "vibe coders" competing with competent devs in the first place tbh but moments like 4:19 kinda just sealed the deal for me lol

They both did great , i feel we should be happy seeing such progress in our world where we can just create deployable applications with just prompts

This challenge felt completely unfair. Riley chose an app concept he already knew, set the rules to his advantage, and forced Vishal to use vibe coding, which he had never done before. It came off as self-promotion rather than a real comparison. Despite Riley saying how great his app was, the real winner is clearly Vishal.

🔥 This was like a coding Verzuz battle 😂 Both apps had solid moments — Riley nailed the quick functionality, but Vishal’s polish and UI really stood out. If I had to vibe with one, I’d say Vishal edges it this round. Either way, this NEEDS to be a recurring series… feels like the next great dev gameshow. 🚀
