Excited to finally share this guy. Now, who wants to see MkIV? Also, I want to do more design focused videos in the future (like the "Impossible design of Wheatley from last year) What would you like to see? (non Valve-related ideas encouraged)

Imagine instead of having a set of Alexa's in your house, you just have a Wheatley following you around on a rail

when i was 14 or so, wheatley was a MAJOR comfort character of mine. I had some nasty anxiety and thinking of this dumb little robot boi actually helped soothe it a bit. One day I actually cut out a paper circle, colored it with markers to make it look as close to wheatley's eye as I could, and attached it to my desk lamp to act like a light filter. And it worked like a charm, turned my whole room blue. And with all the other lights out, you could only barely see the lamp itself, just the big blue eye. Keeping it on when I went to bed felt like I had a wheatley of my own to hang out with.
That being said, I'm glad I didnt have one of THESE bad boys as a kid or i would've straight up died of happiness. Wouldn't mind one now though, I still love this goober and he brings me so much nostalgia. Incredible work on this, seriously.

in the dev commentary they say its impossible to give them eyelids because they would have to clip through, and they know because they were forced to make peices that clip thorugh some others that arent seen to make eyelids. but you did it.

Oooo it's so surreal seeing him in the real robotics like this. Love the expressions he gives and I really like the aesthetic of this video and explanation of the build too. Very cool!

Absolutely fantastic! It looks great! definitely put a smile on my face
I will say I did prefer the digital screen for an eye more than what's in Mk III just made it look more real.
the only other thing I can think of to improve the performance of Wheatly would be to make his body able to pivot on the pole he is attached to rather than being static. I think it would just add that bit more extra life to him
But that's the only feedback I have I think it's absolutely gorgeous!
Being a collector of life-size props I wish this was a collectible coming to market.
Keep up the fantastic work!

It's actually incredible how much motion you got out of this guy. I've been following since mkI, and it's so awesome how far the design has come. You've done an incredible job dude!

Sent me waaay back 2011, at the time I watched tons and tons of wheatley videos, even my password was wheatley at one point, back at time time the only thing we had was a realistic puppet, always wanted someone to make an animatronic or some kind of robot from wheatley irl, never thought id see that in 2024, amazing work!

It would be really cool if you built big boi Wheatley (as I call Wheatley when he is in charge of the entire facility)
I want to see his little face open up.
Its so cool.

I think having the ability to also pan/tilt the whole assembly on the maintenance rail would make it look even more realistic/alive. But Iβm still very impressed. Cool project!

Man, it's amazing that he can flip his eye around 360 degrees like in the game. Crazy. Absolutely astonishing. Love how his eye flashes as it does when he talks in the game.
