Those assets within the radomes (as those geodesic radar enclosures are called) are incredibly expensive, sensitive and vital to long range SigInt monitoring.
Taking those out is of strategic, rather than tactical value. I cannot overstate how vital and expensive and hard to replicate those facilities are, but I used to work in comms and signal monitoring. Russian cannot easily replace those.
Big win today for the heroes, defending the right of citizens to protest peacefully and demand accountability from the government.

You guys will have Crimea back; never would have said that even a year ago. The swing in results we are seeing across the world right now showcases overall leadership

The plastic shroud over the antenna is called a 'radome', pronounced like 'ray' 'dome', as in this case they are actually a radio antenna dome. Any protective sleeve from which the functional antenna can be removed is called a radome, even if it is just a piece of capped 1" plastic pipe. The large to giant radome spheres are needed to cover very large rotating radar dishes. But anything that protects an actively functioning antenna is called a radome. As for the reason for a protective radome, it is generally the weather, especially snow and ice at microwave frequencies, where the antennas are particularly sensitive. Other reasons are on ships and boats, where they are protecting against saltwater, or just plain freshwater, the antenna, connectors, and the mechanisms that rotate them if they are radar or RF direction-finding antennas. There, everything anyone might want to know about radomes without getting into RF engineering.
