Costco does actually accept returns no questions asked. I’ve returned things without receipts and also opened up, like a pack of shirts that didn’t fit and etc. It just can’t be damaged hella or altered.

Re: wasted food - there’s an app that you can get to be alerted to and sign up to buy bulk leftover food from restaurants before they close. You have to pay for it, and you don’t get a choice what you get, but like the local coffee shop will give you a bag of baked goods for $5. Stuff they usually charge $3-5 each for. The deals pop up a but randomly, not every place every night, and they might only have 3 bags available, so popular places go quickly. But you can buy food before it goes in the trash, for a great discount.

Lemme defend costco real quick. Its clearly a good faith policy, my family and I have returned countless items with like no issue at all, even stuff we accidentally broke. Had you not made it very obviously a joke, like maybe snapped the board in the middle (and probably showed up in normal clothes and talked normal) it would have gone just fine
