If Russia quits, there is no war.
If Ukraine quits, there is no Ukraine.

I would much rather have an 18 year old at a monitor controlling an explosive drone against Russian tanks, instead of going to the front and dying.

If the west didn’t tie Ukraine’s hands, told them not to attack Russia’s oil and gas, not to use long range weapons, etc. Ukraine would have already won the war.

I did my military service in the Swedish navy. I learned much (like how stinky you can get and still not care). But I also learned this: 1. The Russian navy sucks. It's a mix of ships posing as a Potemkin village. 2. I felt sorry for those poor conscripts - and I still do. 3. They are smarter than their junk fleet implies - but stuck in a hopeless system. 4. Never, ever trust them.
But now I am a parent, with two kids heading for their national service. I want them to serve as anyone else. But I desperately want them to be safe. Looking at the news, I see my kids in the faces of conscripts from Russia, Dprk, Ukraine. Please never give in to the violence . Please never ever give up fighting against this brutality. I want my kids to have a future with peace. And I want all those kids to have the same peace and calm.
Slava Ukraina! We deserve peace. We must never give up.

There is a lot of focus on problems for Ukraine, in our western media, and among people, and the implication is Ukraine is doomed. People also seem to believe that Russia is unbeatable .. which is ridiculous , a sane Russia would have given up long ago.

As Ukrainian I want to say that war has changed. Young people (till 25) is not the best solution for the war. They have to little experience, they are too young, too immature. But they are good for drone operators. That is why they are offered to take part in war as drone operators, but for other positions commanders are not delighted of. This war differes much from other wars. Ukraine is smaller than Russia, so we need to be smarter, not bigger.😊

“Russia is bigger/more powerful than Ukraine, Ukraine has to give up territory…” Um, how much territory does the U.S. have today of Vietnam? Ukraine? Iraq? 🙄

I am still surprised that people think a country that bases its strategy and tactics around a preservation of forces will run out before a country that treats soldiers and equipment as single-use, disposable commodities. Search for Russia's use of "single use soldiers" for detailed explanations of just how they manage to run out at such a high rate.

Russia is the largest country in the world and needs a lot of manpower to patrol and guard its borders. They are stretched too thin to effectively go on a long-term military campaign. They burned up alot of resources to control 20% of Ukraine. Their economy is collapsing in the process.

I have long recognized that Ukraine was not running out of men to be soldiers. I pointed out in something I wrote how much greater percentage of Ukrainians and Russians were mobilized during World War II as an example. Neither Ukraine nor Russia are actually out of people for both countries. It is important to keep people working in the economy because both economies are under strain. The number of men they can usefully equip and field is more of a restraint.
Thank you for pointing this out publicly for a much bigger audience than the one I reached. You are the first person from whom I have learned anything of importance about this war.

As I heard from Ukrainian student fromWarsaw/Poland polytechnic uni replying to some misinformed guy: "We are young, we're better at making things that let our fathers survive and let them eliminate orcs in throves". He was right, and that is so wise - make youngs tinker, and let them raise new generation of fighters too.

Russia of course likes to play up troop numbers for propaganda reasons, because that is the only area where they apparently have a disparity to their advantage. In many other important areas (leadership, external financial & logistical support, technology) Russia is at a significant disadvantage. But in any case raw troop numbers have little relevance - there are many examples in history of a smaller force defeating a larger one.

Ukraine cannot lose this war. Several times nuclear power has lost a war. Think about that and decide for yourself. Love this.
