The “Switch 2 is the first time Nintendo is releasing something that was the same as before but better” narrative is BS. What was the transition from NES to SNES then? Both consoles were doing exactly the same.

Too expensive. I’m holding for now. Everything is so expensive. I don’t think it’s worth that money. I’m just playing old retro games now.

The “investors” don’t care about the customers, innovations, fun, legacy or anything else Nintendo does. Nintendo is and has been successful because they have taken risks and innovated in the video game industry. Every commercial “failure” has enabled Nintendo to innovate in the future. Switch 2 could be “safe” but if it’s not fun people won’t buy it.

story is wrong, Sony did not walk away from Nintendo, It was nintendo who ditched sony and made a secret backdoor deal with Panasonic or philips or something. Sony was heartbroken coz of it. so they decided, if they can make cd players, why not put a chip in and make those cd play games ? and we got Playstation 1. the rest is history.

'It's the first time they've done the same thing a little bit bigger and a little bit better' obliviously the NES and SNES never existed.

"Almost all of its revenue comes from this one product"
What?
That wasn't even true 10 years ago. Switch + Switch game revenues + revenues from 3rd party games to start, then you talk about their insane merchandise, amiibo, and the movies and the freaking theme parks.
They're basically Disney. They have lots of ways of making money.
"honestly it feels like a switch pro"
but that's what you do when you sell 150M units. You do it again. The time to dramatically innovate is when you're struggling, not when you're hitting 3 grand slams a night. Nintendo just turned up the juice on graphics and 3rd party support, and are pumped for the new generation. Naysayers are lining up for this too.
"External Threats - Nintendo and Netflix."
No. Apple is making money off smartphone gaming but no one thinks these two are going to make a dent in Nintendo's market. As an Apple fan, I would LOVE for Apple to dump some of their billions into the gaming market. They don't care about gaming. Netflix isn't making games either, just rehashing old ports. No one has the creativity of Nintendo in the game-making business. It's not JUST about money guys.

Nintendo should sell a dockless switch for a cheaper price and bigger market share

I honestly havent seen much hype around the switch 2. I dont know if its the $150 price increase from the original switch or higher priced games, but discussions around swit h 2 have been pretty dead. I didn't even know it was already released.

It's not gonna live up anywhere close to the Switch 1 because it's not that big of an upgrade and since their target market is kids they wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Their other biggest challenge is mobile games, and forever games like Roblox fortnite and Minecraft which there would be no need to upgrade hardware in order to continue to play it.
