I've always loved having a good healthy breakfast. However when I started to see a weight shift in menopause I fell for the intermittent fasting advice and packed on more weight when I should have been lifting heavy! I'm back to eating breakfast, two months in to Dr. Sim's advice. More energy, feeling stronger, better balance, no more sugar cravings. Loving it! The aesthetic changes will come. Bye bye panniculus!

I did a 22 hour fast every day for about six months combined with keto. I’m a woman. Even though I reduced my calories, I gained weight. It did fix my blood sugar issues though. As soon as I began eating normally again, I started losing weight and feeling better.

when i was in mid 20s to early 30s, fasting and HIIT coupled with almost daily running of max. 30 minutes worked for me. now that im almost 38 i find that overriding my body with all these stressors leave me fatigued and inflamed. now im just taking time, focusing on nutrient dense whole foods and practicing movement that destresses and feels like meditation to me and i realized that theres now been a shift in my fitness journey. it’s no longer a weightloss/fatloss journey. I am now in my HEALING JOURNEY. my body and I deserve it.

I did a bodybuilding competition in 2013, started my prep in 2012, I was 51. I would have men come up to me in the gym and say it was unusual to see a woman lifting free weights and doing compound exercises. It funny to think that was only 12 years ago and how much has changed with women resistance training now. There is still so little research done on women in the stages of menopause, most of the studies are still on men or younger women.

20 hours without eating is called working as a nurse in a hospital.

Everyone’s body is different. Learn to listen to your body. I used to do
Warrior fasting and when I hit menopause everything changed. Now if I try and train without a pre workout meal I’m exhausted the rest of the day. It’s good to listen to these videos and start biohacking. It won’t take long for you to recognize your body is telling you what it needs.

Intermittent fasting isn’t about losing weight. It’s about correcting metabolic imbalances. It’s particularly helpful for Type 2 diabetics wanting to not only gain control of their glucose levels but other metabolic measurements. And watch out for medications prescribed without looking at their impact on glucose levels. The other key factor is sufficient, good quality sleep.

All these doctors contradicting each other... Is so confusing. How can Dr Mindy Peltz and Dr Sims's approaches be so different. How can one advocate short fasts and the other go on about 24-48hr fasts, and both claim to have access to science that backs them up. Honestly

At 50 I developed a severe histamine intolerance due to gut disbiosis. I'm a woman and fasting of all kinds from OMAD to 3-5 day water fasts healed my gut, got me to my high school weight and build, and now I'm fit and whole. Fasting and clean eating, of course.

It IS confusing when different people claim different things. We are all individuals and it is up to us to try different things to figure out what works for our bodies. There is NO cut and dry ANSWER for everyone. We need to listen to what our bodies are telling us, and I find THAT is the biggest disconnect people have. Our body has all the answers and is constantly giving us signals. But we are confused and overloaded by everything outside of us. Yes, it's important to gather scientific information and develop strategies for whatever your goal may be. But our body has the final say. And the only way to access that is to shut off all the noise of the world, put the phone away, and get quiet and tune in. Practice THAT and health and well being will follow.

It works for me. I can't do the extremes a man can do, but 14-16 hours 3 -4 times per week have been excellent for controlling my weight and giving a rest to my colon, with bloating going away. I do resistance training as well and take a lot of protein, I don't see why it has to be either or.

FINALLY….i have said this for years based on my disappointment in dedicated fasting for 18 months. Love Dr Jason Fung but it was not helpful to me & many younger co-workers. Thank You Dr Sims! Bonnie

I'm agreeing with this lady because I did intermittent fasting 5 days a week for 20 hours daily and didn't lose weight the way I wanted until I incorporated walking 20 000 steps daily with fasting

This must be the only person on the internet telling us fasting isn't good for women😅
I was experiencing a LOT of inflammatory symptoms ( gaut on my big toe, anti thyroid antibodies high, ended up in A&E due to severe pain on the left side that turned out to be an inflammation reaction in the liver ) ...so I fasted 2 X 24 hours and then 1 X 36 hours and the pain and inflammation symptoms went away🥳

Thank you for this information!! My whole life I’ve been consumed by what to eat and when - I feel absolutely liberated by knowing that exercise is a more powerful tool for my health. If there is one place I always find inspiration it’s movement, if I can lean into it with confidence I think my nutrition will fall into place. Wow, I often think about that scene in Walle as well and as I’m turning 39 next year I want to move in a way that keeps me strong. Important things to think about. Great content, thank you!

Intermittant fasting certainly does work, at least for me. I am 75, started keto and IF end of 2018, lost 17 kilos and very quickly was no more hypoglycemic. Carb cravings rather much disappeared. Fortunately, I am never, ever hungry first thing in the morning. I get a little hungry around 2 pm. I have small weights that I use (max 3 kilos each) and a small trampoline. Life is Grand. About once a year I do a 24-36 hr fast without problem. Just herbal infusions and water during those times. I go between keto and low carb. Works for me.

I m in my mid 40. Fasting or not fasting gives me the same results interms of weight loss, as long as i m in cal deficit. However, if fasting 16 hours from dinner to midday, i tend to feel less hungry in the morning (hence eat less calorie in the day) as compared to if i eat bfast. My blood sugars didnt spike and drop as quickly if i fast. I do lift weights and i am a moderatly active person. I fast when in my rest day where i dont lift heavy, but had a cafeine before lifting. But i think the big change is the Mindset. If i already were to limit myself, it is harder to get thru. Mindset plays a big part.
