His secret ingredient is 8 hours of hiking, digging, cutting, and building. Nothing tastes better than when your body has used up 4000 calories that day.

Every bit of respect for an absolute legend, I hope he enjoys retirement.

The algorithm didnt bring outdoor boys to my feed until 2023. I always loved watching what he cooked up. His moto "i dont mind being cold, i dont mind sleeping on the ground, and i dont mind being hungry, but ill only do one of those things at a time" is great.
I noticed he cooks alot of high fat content meals... after hiking all day burning thousands of calories thats exactly what your body is craving and needs. A salad just isn't gonna cut it.

Some would say this is glazing him but he deserves every bit of recognition for it. The guys resourceful as heck, and somehow always plans out good meals in the harshest conditions

I live in Alaska, I saw him with his son last week actually (I didn't bother him, but I was geeking out about it) at a restaurant in Seward. They were recording. Possibly something more personal, but.. who knows. Maybe for something later? He didn't say he retired or quit, it was more like "maybe later, I'm focusing on family at the moment"
Thought I'd share

Yes but I will say this It always tastes better after you've been hiking all day regardless of how it's cooked so unless you're going to hike before every meal it will not be the same

I always loved watching what he cooked up. His motto stuck with me: “I don’t mind being cold, I don’t mind sleeping on the ground, and I don’t mind being hungry — but I’ll only do one of those things at a time.” Classic line. Practical, honest, and kind of hilarious.

I remember seeing a while ago, I think last year. He was getting hate on tiktok because he wasn't eating salads during his videos and wasn't promoting "clean eating"
These people dont realise that the last thing your body needs after hiking, chopping, and building all day is salads. Luke makes exactly what his body needs and I respect the hell out of him for it

I don't get emotional over Youtubers. I tell myself that. But after watching Luke for so many years, learning some tips and tricks that I get to try and do myself - wonderful. I was an emotional man when I watched his last video. When I met my girlfriend (from Ukraine, post-war) we bonded a lot when we found out we both watch the Outdoor Boys! Many nights falling asleep to a crazy video Luke put out. With his tips, tricks, challenges, and food, we learned how to really spice up the camping trips and enjoy the outdoors together. No more hotdogs over the fire. We brought full on steaks, basic ingredients, and had ourselves some amazing feasts. Instead of a regular campsite with a basic campfire and amenities, we take the truck wayyyy up into the mountains on some roads that haven't been traveled in many years - and we do so with confidence! I love the OutdoorBoys, and I hope it''s not the end for Luke - but I completely understand his points and I wish him and his family the best. I am very excited to watch his boy's channel. Most of all though - I can't wait to try more of his camping recipes. So damn good. Cheers ya'll!

I love and adore how Luke NEVER clickbaited anything and pretty much taught us all stuff as if he was our dad

I had only discovered the Outdoor Boys for like a month and was loving it....and then the goodbye happened. I was sad. It managed to even make news sources here in South Korea.

You can see the life questioning look at his eyes when he thinks about "did I just waste years of my life calculating measurements for cooking to just toss a piece of unmeasured dough in a fire, and it works!?"

Making fresh bread out in the wild is actually a genuinelly a great idea, because human civilization is built on bread. It's the most sought after food in a history of mankind and having fresh soft bread can be a huge morale boost in harsh environments.

Max, the prime was undercooked because you used a non-insulated container! Outdoor boys used an insulated container which will retain heat much longer.

You are missing the key ingredient here: hiking and working the whole day makes you extremely enjoy whatever simple food you have. "Camping" does not pay justice to what he does.

Luke didn’t retire he’s taking time away from social media because he’s getting too popular and his family was at risk of stalkers/paparazzi. His eldest kid is 12 years old he’s got 6 years left to teach him what he needs to know for adulthood. He’s helping his son with his YouTube channel Outdoor Tom.
