I'd rather trade in physical bricks than the US dollar after seeing the awful conduct of Washington in West Asia, nevermind all their prior repulsive behaviours. The depravity has simply gone too far. Forget gold/BTC/BRICS vs. the USD. I"d use the Zimbabwean Dollar over the USD if Zimbabwe ever got their act together. I don't think there will be a BRICS currency, because this currency has no meaning for sovereign states. It is difficult to balance the settlement interests of various countries, nor can it balance the economic conditions of each member. It will be more like the US dollar system, the Chips system with the RMB as the main currency. you missed a massive piece - when the us printed a shit ton of money (30% of the money supply) - it should have in theory reduced the purchasing power by a commensurate amount; instead the burden was taken in large part by other countries whose trade is dependent on the US. So their currencies devalued not 30% but 300% or more in many instances. Thats crazy.

From an Indian point of view, it's just tragic that the UN permanent council is limited to a few countries that are leftover of a war that was fought almost 80 years ago. I mean seriously UK and France being on the security council while India isn't is not even funny anymore. As much as anyone loves the dollar, I feel it's just a matter of time until the dollar is slowly eroded away as much of the global consumption is going to shift from the west to Asia. Having lived, gone to school and worked stateside and now back home in India, I do feel America is special in terms of the capitalist/meritocratic society that it has engineered. But the Math and Numbers are just too skewed in favor of Asia. I just hope for a peaceful transition of power, and not a war. There can never be a BRICS currency. It requires a common central bank, common monetary policy, common banking regulation, common bonds etc. It is impossible unless the group is a superstate, like the EU and even then it is dysfunctional and clownish. The only thing that will happen, to some extent and should have always happened, is that the nations allow each other countries commercial banks to open Nostro/vostro accounts. Then they can use their national currencies to settle trades. They can also pledge gold or barter. The problem is fear and obedience of politicians and banks and companies to US sanctions. The governments need to provide assurance of protection to banks and business people and nations that want to undermine these arrangements, like India, should face consequences from Russia, China etc.
