If you want some context on why a lot of Battlefield players don't believe SBMM will be a major factor in BF6: In Battlefield V DICE tried to implement an SBMM system into the gamemode 'Breakthrough' as an experiment, and everybody hated it. They hated how it broke up lobbies, how it didn't even work properly and how map rotations became basically randomized.
DICE promptly reversed their decision in like a week. And they never touched actual SBMM since. I was there and I'm glad they reversed the decision.
If they're gonna add some form of SBMM it'll probably be for Squad Deathmatch since just a team balancer will leave some squads far less skilled than others. And with like, 4-5 players(idk how big squads are in BF6 this time) per squad you kinda need some equal skill across all squads.

Nero I think I can answer the secrecy question.
DICE does not want a certain developer smooching off their ideas and mechanisms, it’s the only thing that makes sense especially when it’s coming close to the launch of both games in which that certain developers is bleeding their fanbase. I think it would be the smart move to keep information about the game before launch kept well under wraps so that specific developers can fail successfully.

Man CoD’s manipulation has really left its players with intense SBMM trauma, so hearing any amount of matchmaking involving even the slightest amount of skill sent everyone into a frenzy, I can’t really blame anyone because of how deep these scars have gone since 2019, here’s hoping Battlefield 6 will mark a turning point in the FPS genre

Yeah I saw these comments quite a while back but bottom line is, without a server browser, there is no guarantee the EA doesn't realize how successful the game might be and then crank up SBMM to the max. Them being secretive isn't a good sign, although I really appreciate Sirland's comments... if they stick to them.

It still blows my mind that game devs haven't caught on to sbmm = game hate.... Just follows Apex or Warzone player count... More SBMM = LESS PLAYERS

The only thing I dislike is that they have matchmaking as a priority instead of just servers. A core sever browser, and then a creative server browser for community made maps and modes is all we need. A matchmaking tab just breaks up the player base which isn’t ideal

We need to realize that call of duty is call of duty and battlefield is battlefield. The sbmm is not the same ppl.

Going into this game hoping they don't pull an Activision and crank up SBMM up after the games' been out for a bit. I don't mind SBMM to keep the bottom tier players in a place where they can learn and have fun, but I don't want sweatfest lobbies in every game.

When it comes to installing the campaign or multiplayer separately, I really hope I do not have to install three different shared content packs on top of the multiplayer or campaign pack just to play one game mode

Ok, I feel crazy rn. 😆 I swear I saw all of this news over the matchmaking on Twitter fairly recently. From Vince Zampella and Byron Beede, I believe, at the Multiplayer reveal. They had a Q&A where they answered this themselves. I didn't think this was some secretive news lol. So idk if I just dreamed this perfectly or if you just missed it, and not just you, you got Dexerto, CharlieIntel, basically all of the COD news account fear mongering this SBMM story and I was just sitting here so confused 😂 Glad its cleared up though

I guess I was unaware of the treads deletion, but it's good to know that I was at least able to help clarify the matchmaking for some people

i dont like sbmm but can we still wait for open beta to judge the game? then we can give genuine feedback about it because it probably wont work or feel the same as cod, so im gonna remain cautiously optimistic.
