Fallout 1 came out in 1997. I was a baby, but because I love Fallout. I felt I needed to cover this game to its entirety. So I beat the whole thing ...

A fun fact is that they didn’t remove kids, they made them invisible. Pick pocket kids can still take your items in the censored version of the game.

fun fact dogmeat is supposed to die at the military base in lore as you can find the skeleton of a dog in the military base in the second game.

The supermutant Harry can actually be spoken to and not trigger combat. When Harry talks about his mission to talk to capture you, you can respond with something like " Uh no thanks, bye" and he is so dumbfounded that he just says bye back.

About Cathedral and Mariposa Base, you were supposed to actually go in with Followers of the Apocalypse(for Cathedral raid) and BOS(for Mariposa raid). But sadly Followers are bugged super hard so they can never help you attack the cathedral location and BOS is sort of laggy and I think they can only help you defeat entrance mutants and can't go inside the base

just a tip for anyone trying to move large amounts of "caps" in fallout 1, you can actually type in what amount you want to transfer with the number keys.

Managed to keep Dogmeat alive when he was the only one that canonically died at Mariposa XD

Fun fact: if you have good karma, but you enter combat immediately (and I mean immediately, IIRC you have less than a second's window of time) after your last conversation with the Overseer, you still get to kill him. I kinda love that the devs included this obscure option.
Most of my playthroughs I play a good guy, but I am never letting Overseer get away with being a colossal asshole.

08:18 A bit of trivia: they had plans to make Gizmo the better option for Junktown, because he'd turn it into a safe spot for tourists, and it would make the inhabitants wealthy. Killian would keep it a small, isolated settlement with his brand of frontier justice.

29:00 My dogmeat solution was to stop somewhere random on the overworld, punch him to make him hostile, then run off the map. I like to think he’s still out there, eating floaters.

The game crashed because only a MONSTER would keep killing dogmeat.

Fun fact once you deliver the water chip it starts a new hidden timer which counts down how long it will take for the mutants to find your vault, if you bought the extra hundred days from the water merchants you get less time to finish off the mutants
EDIT: correction, it was patched out

That SMG you pick up at vault 15 has burst fire mode which makes dispatching raiders easy. Rich loot too. You come to hub worth 20k caps if you clear the raider camp

21:37 I remember spazzing out like wojak when I learned that Nightkins were actually Classic Fallout invention, always thought it was New Vegas that added them because, well, Bethesda were very glad to steal classic Fallout monsters so I thought if there are no nightkins in F3 then they didn't exist in F1,2. Guess I was wrong back then

HOLY SHIT!! You actually got thru the base with Dogmeat!? THATS AWESOME!! There have been MANY attempted play thrus by many players that tried to have Dogmeat survive! What many people have ended up doing was trapping Dogmeat by locking him in a room and then continuing. It’s so bittersweet to see you kill Dogmeat when so many have spent so much time trying to get thru Mariposa with him..

canonically, the chosen one from fallout 2 travelled back in time to break the water chip in order to ensure his own survival.

The Fallout 1 intro movie is incredible, the amount of cool lore they establish so efficiently. The whole IP is in that intro movie.

"character creation screen surprisingly detailed for a game made in the 90s?" oh my, it has gone only downwards since...

The character menu is surprisingly in depth for a game from the 90's
I nearly had an aneurysm.
