Doey being leaked via Walmart merch is the funniest thing ever and I have no idea why

98% of all the issues in this chapter could've been fixed if Mob kept it in the oven for at least 3 more months. Feels like they were terrified of keeping everyone waiting as long as we were for chapter 3's release, but lost sight of why chapter 3 was more than worth the wait in the first place

The thing that kills me about the marketing is that if you went into this game completely blind and didn't pay attention to the marketing you'd have NO IDEA who the nightmare critters are or where the HELL they came from. They weren't mentioned in previous chapters. They weren't introduced. They aren't even dropped by NAME in the game. Like yeah you can understand that they're definitely knock offs/a "bad kid" line of the smiling critters, but they have NO purpose in this game whatsoever. Literally they could've been replaced with the smiling critters and nothing would've changed.

i find it hilarious that the devs:
- gave you back the Flare Hand at the start
- re-taught you how to use it
- explicitly told you its new use of burning down flammable objects
- introduce a new monster MADE OF THE MOST FLAMMABLE FABRIC IN EXISTENCE...
and instead of using the flares to defend yourself from Yarnaby the game instead forces you to hide from him and at the end he just bursts on fire after getting caught on a random hook for seemingly no reason.

I feel like Mob doesn't realize why the Smiling Critters took off to the point of becoming, more or less, an entirely separate fandom: they made those characters... you know, characters? With CatNap and DogDay getting a significant story presence? Plus, there was enough material to give people the impression they were much more than just cute designs. You had the animated cartoon, the voiced cardboard cutouts, and the mountains' worth of concept illustrations of the cast simply hanging out and being silly, showcasing their personalities and dynamics. It gave the fans a LOT to play with!
The Nightmare Critters... only got those initial introductory paragraphs and designs. They don't really have much personality aside from looking mischievous and going "nyehehe" in their artwork. There's no external fluff to get people attached.

TBH, half the problems would have been solved if The Doctor was in the final chapter.

I hate that they are *still* keeping the identity and goal of the player character a secret.
Like why are you there, why are you doing anything. How could you relate to anything happening when you have nothing to hold onto.

I'm sorry but if there was any villain in this game who should've survived a chapter, it's not Huggy, it's HARLEY. FREAKING SAWYER Think about what he's done.
1. He's behind the bigger bodies, (Huggy, Kissy, Mommy, Boxy, Catnap, Dogday, Pianosauras, Doey, yarnaby and others.)
2. Responsible for the death of many kids.
3. Has been watching us since the beginning.
4. was working with the prototype.
5. Potentially responsible for the HOUR. OF. JOY
I get that he outsmarts us a few times, but lets be honest, in addition to his genius level intellect, he has been watching us since the moment we stepped in the factory, he knows how capable we are, he should be duping us upon duping us upon duping us, the only one who should be able to stop him is the Prototype.
Justice for Pianosauras? Nah, JUSTICE FOR SAWYER.

Haven't finished video yet, but- Poppy Playtime fell into the same trap that the first Bendy game ran into, ironically- too much to do and too few chapters to do it. So, the game makes up by cramming everything into one chapter. Harley Sawyer and Doey are both really good characters and concepts, but due to the crunch they're cramped against each other. But, neither can survive until the next chapter, because that's the Prototype's chapter.
And now, we have this:
Chapter 1: Short, demo-like.
Chapter 2: Longer.
Chapter 3: Full chapter.
Chapter 4: Two chapters crammed into one.
It's too late to fix this, but the better option would've likely been to start planning around chapter 3's development for the possibility of a chapter 6. Then break 4 into 4 and 5 and have 6 be its own thing. There's few downsides for this. It gives them another chapter to create and monetize, it gives players more to play, and it allows wiggle room for more ideas to be added.
Plus, you could work in a Pianosaurus chase scene before Doey drops in to save the day and break some hearts.

Hear me out: the nightmare critters should have been more built up, AND IN THE SAFE HAVEN!! They should’ve been the sane ones, having to abandon their built-in personalities for this horrible, tortured life they were forced to live. What if they were canceled toys and chucked into the trash, only for Doey to retrieve and help them? I’d love to get to know a sad little Baba chops.

My biggest problem was that it didn’t seem like there was much GAME in this GAME. It was a LOT of talking - characters talking at you, characters talking to each other, tapes monologuing at you, all in looooong conversations where you have no agency. The game basically just straps you to a chair to explain things at you before you can progress. Then you do a pretty simple gameplay loop, then BOOM, right back to talking.

Fun fact the nightmare critters are cash grabs in real life and in the lore

I hate how Poppy Playtime gives you absolutely no agency and makes you do the jobs of a character who has done nothing but lie and betray you, then goes "WHY DID YOU DO THAT????" like what the fuck do you mean why. you put it in my fucking missions bar
it's not like Bioshock, where Atlas' directions are reasonable. Like, Doey is correct. Were I given the choice I'd be working alongside him the whole time.
One narrative thing I can give this game is that Ollie being SO OBVIOUSLY the Prototype in Chapter 3 made the reveal that he actually was the Prototype a surprise. Like, holy shit, the most obvious answer was the actual answer??? Legitimately a surprise.

To be honest, it was like Mob Entertainment tried to shove TWO Chapter's worth of Content into ONE for Chapter 4. I have found out that Originally, there was supposed to be Side Quests for the Safe Haven (Get a birthday cake for a Toy named "Izzy", Find a Specific Book for Doey, and burn some incense for the lost and fallen in the Memorial Room)... All of these ENTIRELY Optional and felt like it could have altered the ending of the chapter.
Add in the fact that Yarnaby and Sawyer were planned out by Isaac (Sawyer was notably a Mobile Unit rather than stationary), the leading art director before he left Mob, and it likely meant that Chapter four was SUPPOSED to JUST be Yarnaby and Sawyer, while Doey was likely meant to be our ally until the fifth Chapter.

APPARENTLY safe haven was supposed to at one point have fucking sidequests. yes you heard me, SIDE QUESTS. which may explain poppys "catch ur breath" spiel, strange decision, to keep it in sure. but fuck me would sidequests have atleast fixed alot of issues the safe haven hub area had. or not, who knows.

Also people might disagree with this. But I wish we didn’t had a silence protagonist. Espically after knowing that they work in the factory.
As I think it’ll be interesting if they react to the horrors that they’re apart of all those year ago. Going from making excuses to taking responsibility while going down further into the levels.

Ollies VA changed between Chapter 3 and 4 because the previous VA hit puberty before Chapter 4.
