My hard thing is...every basic thing I need to do to stay alive. Making food is a hard thing. Showering is a hard thing. Getting out of bed is a hard thing. It feels like every basic thing that everything else is built on is such a mission that it feels like I'm building a house of cards every day and never getting past the first layer.

As a teen I had to lose a lot of weight, and I developed a trick that's stuck with me for 20 years. When there's all the voices of how you don't want to go for a run or to the gym and you imagine how hard it will be, how you really don't feel like it today, you then introduce this devilish indulgent voice of 'but what if I did?'. Like the thing of the Angel and Devli on your shoulders, and you inverse it and make the devil the one who wants to do something crazy, then you're going on an adventure, you're on the precipe of the unknown, who knows how good you will feel when you're doing it, and then it's like you let yourself be possessed by this ridiculous venture.

I found the video strangely soothing — no music, no flashy montage, no perfect takes, just a guy explaining an important point at lenght. Wow, I forgot content like this existed. Kudos!

Love that you mentioned the 30min walk in nature talking to yourself out loud. I do this too and always thought I was a bit crazy for it

The hard work I'm avoiding is figuring out what I want to with my life. Wasn't expecting to live this long and now I don't have a plan lmao

Who knew that having a 1920s Cockney chimney-sweep teaching me about neurotransmitters would be so insanely satisfying

My hard tasks are sticking to the rules I made for myself:
1) Dont work after working hours, to avoid burn out
2) Keep promises I make to the people around me
3) Being physically active everyday
4) No scrolling after 830PM
Thanks for the video! Keep up the good work!!!

One good thing I did years ago to access videos like this without being distracted is to download them and access it in my drive so I won’t be distracted by ads

My hard thing? I am going back to ballet as a 58 year old adult, and I need to structure my life to make it happen, which means budget, to afford classes, strengthening to be able to dance, nutrition to support my body, and building confidence to meet myself in the mirror.

One thing I would like to add is that, as a woman, I heard it is better for us to eat early. I used to fast, but it would make me less productive and wasn't good for my overall health. Now, I try to have a hearty, nutritious breakfast and a lunch. I have a snack for dinner, and I make sure to have my last meal at least two hours before bedtime. It has helped me a lot! Great video, thank you.

I'm a psychotherapist and I have ADHD, which unavoidably made me an accidental ADHD expert. With that being said, this is probably one of the best self help vídeos I've ever watched. It almost feels wrong to call it self help, but it is, in fact, instructing us on how to help ourselves. Even tho there's clearly a very deep scientific basis behind it. Keep up the good work

I just realized I have been thinking all this time, that pleasurable activities CREATED dopamine, NOT that I was SPENDING dopamine when indulging. That alone helps me understand so much better
