It's amazing how walking away for a bit, changes everything. I use it as a life lesson. Years ago I was changing the alternator on a friend's car and the new one would not got into place. I fought it for an hour and was about to start throwing tools. I walked inside and washed my hands, put the leash on the dog and took him for a walk around the block. When i got home I tried again and the alternator fell right into place and the bolt holes were all aligned perfectly. Thanks for the video.

I was glued on to the screen to see that engine crank up and come alive.... Dont know why but that baby cranked up and thrusted out a big chunk of mud out of its chest, it was as if I won some world cup or something 😅😅... It's so anxious and nerve racking moment till the engine starts and once it does feels so proud as if I did something😂😂.
Always fascinated with engines and its a heavenly feel when abandoned gems like this show us that there's still vigour left in them... Thank you for starting that baby for us... Love from India❤❤

Such fun watching you guys rescuing the little steel beasts and bigger ones too! To us out here in audience land, all of these rescued items PLEAD to be put back to the road or put back to work. I always hope you RESCUERS would take up fixing them, giving them new life, even if down the road of time a bit.
A big hello from Grand Junction, CO (Niagara Falls, NY my childhood stomping grounds)!😁👍🙋♂

I always like it when the vehicle is pressure hosed and cleaned up of debris before maintemance work begins.
Seems like a strong dozer after 20 years of sitting idle so the videos on the restoration project should cover the repair costs and some. Would be good to also do a respray and see it in its fully restored glory.

I'm amazed at how many people on here, don't know how to bleed a diesel fuel system. Start at the lift pump, bleed that, go to the filters, bleed them. Go to the injection pump, bleed that. go to the injectors, bleed them while cranking. if it is ok, it should start. Your filters were almost empty and your injection pump was low too. You may not have needed to open up the injection pump.

The brass fitting on the top of the pump. If you can’t force air through it then it is plugged, which turns off the fuel. Knock the check ball out and then make sure the return line is free.

Brilliant how a lot of these old diesels are a nightmare to get running, then don't want to shut off once you do get them going. Enjoyed the vid, nice work. 👍

I come across old lawn mowers that need repaired and it is a little frustrating at times even though it's just a few things. Spark fuel and air. It's all the same. Best of luck on your project thanks for sharing

Well whatever you do with it that 282 IH engine is a kick ass motor they are cold blooded and require glow plugs to start but they take one heck of a lot of abuse and keep running. A couple of things though don’t let it get extremely hot it can crack the head, the shaft driving the injector pump has 2 cup seals if they fail fuel will go to the crankcase. And not that it makes a difference now but anything with glow plugs and pre combustion cups you shouldn’t use either on but I know everyone ignores that advice.
Kudos to your tenacity if I were you I’d keep tinkering with it and make it fully come alive but then I love old iron more then the new stuff after all where can you throw double the voltage at something for extended periods and have it still live?

IH dozer,Drott loader. Its a glow plug engine so it needs those to start. Looks like a 560 engine, possibly a 706 engine. To time it has marks on the crankshaft pulley ,align with the pointer on the block, probably on the L side( from the drivers seat)with #1 TDC compression stroke. I forget the advance degree ,might be 6 ,then the marks should align in the pump timing window. Its the little rectangle with two small screws in it on the side of the pump body, lower middle. You can twist the pump and lines a few degrees otherwise the drive gear needs to have the bolts out and turned.Use lock tite blue if you do. If I recall right the return line comes off the pump cover,it is the smaller line, the larger line is the supply. The injectors are harder to come by and about 300 apiece ,no new parts but they can be reconditioned. Should be a Roosamaster pump, they can be rebuilt. Dont over tighten the banjo fittings in the lines to the pump head, they can sieze the pump head if over torqued. The steering clutches may be stuck,IH was terrible about that, dry clutches. Some poured the clutch housing full of diesel after plugging all the holes that could leak. I dont know whats going on with the fan hub into the radiator but I doubt thats factory. They're a beast and a bear to work on. Being IH is an orphan quite awhile now these are getting kess in number all the time. Dont put 24 volts to the glow plugs,it will fry them all, right now. I dont know what they cost but that is exoensive. Don't ether when using glow plugs,it wont respond well to that . The new fuel filters gaskets may not seal up so dont destroy the old ones. Id say you have something off in the pump is why it doesnt respond so beware if you get it running well, it might run away as well as not shut off. Good luck , hopefully this will help some.

"Come back the next day" - It never ceases to amaze me how that is often the solution to frustrating situations. I can't begin to tell you how many times I have fought with something for hours, come back the next day and less than a minute it's all working again. There should be studies done on this phenomena.

My dad had a TD9, 1962 model, he said when ever its parked to raise the throttle to full, it stops the pump from sticking closed.
