I downloaded War Robots when it was released back in 2015, I played it for 7 years, I haven't played any game this long, it was my favorite game and it was so much fun. Pixonic destroyed it and I hate Pixonic now. I would give it a -5 ⭐ if it was possible.

I used to play it in 2015 and it was f2p friendly back in the day. As soon as pixonic started bringing more and more p2w stuffs without any major changes to the game everyone left and now this game is just a shadow of its former glory

I played this game in its earliest days, back when Leo was meta and it was called "Walking War Robots." Everything costed silver, there were fun maps, new bots that were added that didn't terribly alter balance, and they kept the same aesthetic. After a while I just stopped playing. When I decided to come back out of curiosity a while ago I found that they added SO MANY new robots and weapons. The worst part, which you experienced, was the grind.
If you can believe it, back then the grind was fun! You can be a dedicated F2P player, and if you chose to spend money you didn't need much. Were there raging moments? Sure, but not like what I've experienced when I returned. What killed me was getting the newer bots. Instead of just paying with silver you need to go to a workshop and buy these "pieces" that are no only expensive, but took hours (sometimes days) to complete. I did some calculations and to get this med bot I wanted I would need MONTHS to get it for free! There are people with a full hangar of these, each with weapons that require additional months to get for EACH SLOT.
I was lucky I played during a time where I could get some good upgraded bots and weapons or else I would have dropped this much quicker than you did if I started over.
Thank you for making this video! I don't wish misfortune on such a game that defined many hours of my life, but it's the prime example of paying to play, let alone win. I broke the cycle of curiosity and coming back over and over despite paying money, and I hope people realize that this isn't even fun anymore.

This video doesnt even come close to showing how pay2win AND unbalanced war robots is. Bots that were effectively invincible a half a year ago are not even seen anymore because they have been nerfed to the ground. Players that I play against literally tens of thousands of dollars, Im not exaggerating

Now realize that there are "games" that make you buy shards/pieces of an upgrade, little by little. Then realize that there are games that make you buy A CHANCE at shards/pieces.

I don't know why but i am having pleasure from watching someone who didn't know the game at all enter the game I've been playing for years and slowly start to learn, learn, and regret it.

Honestly I think one of the main reasons I go back and play every so often is the nostalgia. It used to be a really fun game that was not pay to win. And also when I get back into it with friends it’s fun to progress together and show off your hard work. I’ve only been a F2P player and will continue to do so. I’ve been in and out for the last few years and it’s always interesting to see the new currency added and what the meta has become. But it is very frustrating with the pay to win. And bro, you only scratched the surface of the game. There is so much more content that it can get a little overwhelming for new players. Always fun to see people trying it out though, fun video!

15:05 at this point the mod wouldn't ban you for being critical but they'll ban you because they thought you're a bot 😭

Used to play it before. It was formerly titled Walking War Robots. It was good before, around 2015 to 2017. But then suddenly, they change the game to a Pay to Win, change the name to War Robots. That's the start of its downfall.

Encountering a samjok in one of your first matches is really funny because its very recent and one of the most op robots to date and some guy bought it in silver league.

Played since the early days. It all started going downhill by the end of 2017 when the dash bots were released. They were the first bots that were stronger, faster, and more durable than anything else and introduced the 'component' system (basically getting spenders to buy a fraction of a robot).

I've been playing War Robots since 2016. I downloaded it because I wanted a cool phone game to play when I got my first phone. I became P2W. This game is very fun when starting but as you level up you unlock more robots and you can't keep up fast enough. As you get stronger the enemy gets stronger. In order to win and always have the newest robots, you have to spend money and gamble with crates to get the newest equipment. Later in the game you get Drones, motherships, titans, pilots, modules, etc, even ULTIMATE robots, which I've all had in an attempt to keep up, compete, and win in battles over the years I've played this game. The excitement, winning, trying to keep up as the game updates over over years with new updates, and social validation keeps me hooked/addicted to the game as well as all the resources I've spent (I dont want to lose all my hard work). The music and gameplay is simple and charming and always brings me back. The community can be a positive place sometimes as well. This game will always be special to me as it is a childhood game I've played but I wouldn't reccomend playing it as it has a lot of problems. Thanks for this video and leaving your thoughts.

I’m the guy who responded to you at 14:20 😂
But that is genuine coming from me, and since you were new to the game I really wanna warn about the consequences, of course I joined this game when it was fresh and new over a decade ago but I kinda fell in love with it until it became really toxic!
So as like a veteran who’s been playing this game. Thought it’d be wise of me to try to deter you from probably spending so you won’t make the same choices I made. So yeah.
I’ve actually stopped spending now! After I’ve met a certain someone. And also a complete change of priorities. 🤙🏼💪🏻

I used to play War Robots a ton, I never spent money because I didint have any back then, so I was all F2P, however once Ravana was added I left I was so obsessed with the game that I sold my favorite robot Raijin to stay up to date with the meta. I'm not going back; I can't, the fun is long gone.

tip
As a free-to-play player, you HEAVILY rely on events, as events can give some of the best robots. The robot you encountered at 4:15 was Samjok, an event robot. Yes, even free-to-play players can obtain the best robots as event robots are the concurrent best robots and one main tip if you play ina event you will more likely be able to catch up to the pay to wins but not be as fast as them you can still dominate the game without being pay to win by entering giveaways doing leaderboard tasks and participating in events I myself have been playing since 2018. I came back in 2023, and since then, I'm still playing the game my hanger can easily destroy high level titans and also wipe out the entire server with a few robots. and all of that without being pay to win, I haven't even spent a single dollar on the game and I'm already at a great point
