As a social worker for over 20 years, I can tell you the boogie man is not the biggest threat. It's mom's live-in boyfriend.

I've never done anything to make my step daughter afraid of me, but if I heard she was afraid to come home because of me, I would pack my shit and leave. My kids are the ones who made the decision for me to move in, and they know they are in a position to ask me to leave. A child should ALWAYS feel comfortable and safe in their own home. I grew up in hell, I'd never want my kids to feel like that.
