A Counter-Strike game that's all based on being 2D. It surprisingly is really good.

Thank you very much for covering my game! I haven't seen any video describing it in such a comprehensive (and funny) way yet! Great work!
btw: "Gate Field" basically works like barbed wire but it only damages the opposing team.

I wish more people would appreciate fog of war option in this game. Most players that I've seen seems to hate the feature with passion but to me it makes the game a lot more fun since you can sneak around. Amazing game, remember playing it long time ago.

Wow, the devs deserve a lot of praise here. It's amazing they kept this game alive for so long and it's completely free.

This game used to be huge around 2006-2009 era ..
• we used to have our own tournaments with cash prizes
• large community who made our own AC for the game
• casters who were commenting over tournaments
• and we had at least few thousand people playing the game on peak times
This all was before the Steam release .. the golden era of my childhood.

Played this game many years ago a lot. The nostalgia right now. In regards to "FY - Fight Yard" then it was actually a huge thing back in cs 1.6 with maps like iceworld, snow etc.

CS2D has its charm and it's a shame that it's not as popular as it used to be. Literally an underrated game. Basically Counter-Strike with a twist.

I discovered CS2D nearly 15 years ago and played it for a long time. It was one of those games that truly shaped my childhood and teenage years. Today, I'm a software developer, and I'm incredibly grateful to CS2D because it was through this game that I first encountered programming with LUA scripting.

I'm kinda surprised that CS2D was created by a guy who made one of my most favorite game of childhood – Stranded 2. What a legend

10:16 Night Vision became quite useful right before the Steam release, with the implementation of yet another experimental light engine which you can find in the Options menu. However, default maps do not take advantage of such engine, and you will find it generally utilized in modded servers.
14:16 The game mostly revolved around mods back then. It contained such a surplus amount of them that, unlike CS1.6 where most servers revolved around de_dust2, you would forget that map even existed. And during its peak years, it used to be quite lively, with thousands of concurrent players per day, and hundreds upon hundreds of different servers (each carrying a different and unique experience with them). It had everything you could ever possibly ever think of, and it almost felt like a 2D version of Garry's Mod with the amounts of addons it offered rather than Counter-Strike.
14:18 F.Y.I. Yes, people have managed to create various campaign maps over the years.

I played this game a lot when it was very popular. I remember playing it in 2010 and there were a lot of servers. My family was watching the soccer world cup while I was playing on a laptop with an Nvidia 7300go

Its funny I was hit with a wave of nostalgia when I saw unreal software's page. you unlocked a memory that I have in fact played Stranded and Stranded 2. I recall them being pretty fun but also I was a kid playing whatever free game I could get lol.

"there's also bot support built-in which 1.6 doesnt have" does that mean i've been playing modded cs 1.6 all along?

I love when games give this many tools to its users. Game looks beautiful, wish I could find more indie games like this nowadays, reminds me of my middle school computer games

1:30 Stranded 2 is also a great, fun, free game. It was actually the inspiration for the Garry's Mod Stranded gamemode aswell.

You could totally add the equivalent of recoil patterns to this game by having each gun have a clockwise/anticlockwise kick pattern which is the same every time
