I remember this game. I also remember that one dude in the multiplayer server with a Colgate toothpaste playermodel hitting me repeatedly with a crowbar saying that he's taking care of my teeth. Good times.

"To play Sven Co-Op, you need friends"
Well, time to buy the original Half Life then

I still remember when the entire resonade cascade part is basically unbeatable because of the stuck cart in the test chamber. Took them long enough to realize that

in sven you can't shoot while reloading, and movement is slightly slower.
barnacles stop you from being able to shoot so they completely screw you over if you do sven solo. the ai is way more aggressive and can detect you from further away. shotgunning things causes them to be launched. the aim feels much smoother. when multiple explosions occur it's extremely loud, and i love trolling my friends with that in the place where you first get the satchels. anyways these are just a few differences i don't think you covered that i have noticed after having quite a bit of experience with both versions.

For the past 15 minutes I’ve been on a quest. A quest to figure out a question that is on everyone’s mind
Who is Sven

you can still bring back normal hl weapons by either
1. Going to the main campaign portal and enabling classic mode
or 2. Opening the voting menu and enabling classic mode.
Note: not all maps work with classic mode, i say mainly use it for the half life campaign

Shocked you didn’t mention “classic mode”, a toggle you can turn on that seems to default everything back to the original game. If there’s a difference between Sven classic and half life, I can’t find it.

I don't know if you're aware but there is "classic mode" which I always use, it restores the old weapons and changes a bunch of stuff back.

The running gag about having no friends made this 100% relatable and better than the first

I miss Toonrun.
Honestly it was so weird and surreal and I never got to play the whole thing in one run so i had to piece together how it worked from several different runs.
It was always an adventure to wind up on that map and very view captured that strange sort of magic of discovery for me.

In HL1, you can actually manually create the "valve_addon" folder and put maps, models, textures, etc... (except this time its doesnt need to be named before putting stuff in (unlike HL2), you just drop models, maps folder to valve_addon folder and done.) in there, it will also works.
Same for CS 1.6 as "cstrike_addon" and so on, this feature was added at some point, but was forgotten by many as the game doesnt pack most of the valve folder as pak or vpk like the retail/WON or HL2 does, so they just simply installing it in old way and have to overwrite anything, and uninstalling requiring to reinstall/verify the whole game, and plus, with the valve_addon, you can enable/disable it in game settings

I play Sven Co-op almost daily (except the last few months because of university) and I probably have more hours on Sven then I do on Half-Life. It is so much fun to play with friends or you can make friends even if you don't have any (but make sure you play on regulated servers otherwise you will see all kinds of people there). It also feels different so whenever I play normal Half-Life it feels so odd.

In sven-coop the zombies turn faster and can't just run around, hitting him with the crowbar without stopping
Vortigaunts can revive another vortigaunts
Opposing force monsters are present
The electrical and from Op now explodes and is a temporal items
Gauss Rifle has higher cd for charge so when you play Sven-Coop in Deathmatch you can't be flying that much as in Half-Life 1
You can play in third person in Sven-Coop
Maps can add different skins to guns (like in Resident-Evil 1 map)

note about playermodels:
you can install your own but it only appears on your client unless (i think, not sure about this part) other people have the same model installed
otherwise it just shows up as a HEV suit on the server, meaning only the preinstalled models will show up to everybody
again don't quote me on "other people need the same model installed to see it" i'm not sure about that, never tested that

The hallways are sometimes longer so parts of the connected levels don't overlap, since Valve made them separately.

0:51 The game Counter-Strike Nexon: Studio actually uses GoldSRC still. That game was released in the late 00's, I think, and it still gets updated very frequently. Another interesting thing to mention is that has a dynamic light system, as well as a revamped HUD system (it's nothing like HL1 or 1.6). Especially when the games no longer play/look like HL1 anymore, it's kinda funny to try and see what remnants of HL1 is still present in the later CS games. (Kinda like how CSGO still uses HL2 props). Oh, and it has a (built in) map editor that works disturbingly close to minecraft.
