This is a retrospective/review of The Emoji Movie. Don't ask why I'm making this in mid 2021 I genuinely don't know.

So a lot of people seem to be confused about the title, I’m in no way saying this god-awful piece of garbage is good. The title is a rhetorical question asking if the immense hate this movie got was actually deserved, especially compared to something that should genuinely be illegal like Cuties. And it would be pretty nice if people actually took the time to hear me out, thanks.

I remember watching one review where they suggested a better plot idea where there’s two lovers who meet online but they speak different languages so the emojis try to help them communicate.
I think that idea could have been much nicer.

"Then she talks about removing the dislike button."
Really got me. So hilarious.

When the review of the movie is more funny and enjoyable than the movie itself, you know something is wrong.

Something I think I should applaud The Emoji Movie for is the character designs, not the quality but the quantity. The designers had to design HUNDREDS of distinct background characters based on existing emojis alongside other properties, and honestly that is a feat in such a rushed movie.

Fun Fact: For the Japanese dub, a lot of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure voice actors worked in this movie for some weird reason.

Sony Animation is the weirdest studio. Occasionally they'll pump out the best thing you've ever seen and then immediately go back to something like the Emoji Movie

I feel like the plot should go like this:
Gene messes up his first day of being used as an emoji, and feeling disappointed in himself he goes to the workplace to send a proper meh emoji with the help of his childhood friend, high five. But he ends up destroying the workplace. Everyone tries to find out who did it and out of guilt he tells his parents (who work for the smiley emoji) and then tells him he is running away so no one finds out. But the smile emoji was stalking them and sends robots after him and the parents, knowing this, try to get to him first. Remember, the entire emoji hq was destroyed by gene, so the teenager using the phone wonders why and asks his friends, and they think that his phone got hacked and he should get a new one.

The first time I truly cringed is when I saw Gene do the Emoji Pop. My heart genuinely felt bad.

As a native Polish I laughed so hard when he tried to pronounce "Wojcicki"
Fun Fact: Jailbreak was called "Matrix" in Polish dub, so that makes this movie sucks double in that version

I have a friend who has one of those McDonald’s plushies, and at school he threw it at my fucking face with no context.

8:24 "We cut back to Susan, and she summons the Wither Storm from Minecraft Story Mode."
I don't know why but this made me laugh a lot.

It’s crazy to think about how someone came up with this on their own. Like a kids show based on emoji’s trying to save a phone and go into different apps. Like it’s a really cool movie

I'm surprised Alex isn't depressed because he has Twitter on his phone

Honestly the entire move could be skipped if the scanning machine scans an emoji once and uses that scan for the rest of the phone's life
