From his role as a surrogate on Kamala Harris’ campaign, to making a huge impact on the American healthcare system, Mark Cuban joins Jon Stewart this ...

Jon, Marc is blowing a LOT of smoke here. I'm a software engineer, and I use AI as a tool at least once a week. It confidently makes several mistakes that take a seasoned professional to tease out and correct. The more complex a task, the more unlikely a reliable AI solution becomes. AI is a great tool, but the more someone relies on it, rather than directs it, the worse outcomes one can expect. I have a saying, "The less you know about something, the more impressive AI becomes."
It's snake oil to say AI can handle complex decisions better than a person. It's literally terrible at doing that -- it just looks good doing it.

This negotiating of health care services is one of the reasons Canada health care is less expensive than US. Because the gov't is the largest customer (there is also private), it can push for lower costs per service.
The US is the opposite. 🙄

United Healthcare is a perfect example of how Ai can be used for corruption. All they have to do is select parameters that maximize denying claims. It is extremely difficult to determine that the parameters used are really the correct parameters.

I can see how people get swept up from the passion that Mark Cuban exudes when speaking about Crypto and AI, but Jon's producers are impressive with their skepticism. It's too bad they aren't invited into the conversation. They would throw a little water on Cuban! I'm impressed with them! 😂

Would love to have a revisit of this conversation with Mark now that we’ve seen what is happening.

The folks that keep pushing AI seem to forget how people learn. If you automate too many of the "simple" tasks, you also eliminate the basic building blocks that people need to learn how to do the more complicated tasks that AI cannot do.

First, I profoundly admire and am grateful for the work you and your producers have done on The Problem, The Weekly Show and The Daily Show. It is essential and yet somehow still rare the humanity, intellectual rigor, beginners mind and ability to ask hard questions you bring to your interviews.
Please, please, please, whenever you discuss AI or Crypto, it is essential you interrogate these technologies against the amount of resource they require to function. If a promising disruptive technology required human blood to function, for instance, we’d have to have some hard convo’s. AI and Crypto are only one or two steps removed from that hypothetical in that they are both so energy intensive (e.g. pulling from the grid, using water as coolant and extractive materials for construction) they will soon be, if not already, one of the main contributors to pollution of our land, air & water, to climate change and, as one result, to exacerbating disease and death of humans, plants & animals. We have to normalize including their effects whenever we talk about them. And is their value worth the profound costs to our society and earth?

Jon PLEASE do a dedicated episode on AI because Mark Cuban is only one perspective and imo he was seriously wrong in this conversation. Copyrighted works from small amateur writers and illustrators all the way up to the largest companies have been scraped, tagged and used to create these models. Any data you can access publicly on the internet has been used in many of these models, but just because it's shared by the owner (or not in cases of piracy) does not mean they were intended to allow AI models to use them. These models have used others work without permission and without compensation to build a machine that now potentially directly competes with them.

I learned about the working of healthcare in this country through Jon's interview with Steven Brill (America's Bitter Pill) and Elizabeth Rosenthal - hope you have people like that on again to discuss the fundamental question of why the prices are so high in the first place instead of discussing who is going to pay for it.

You really should have someone on in 2025. To counterbalance this crypto / AI bullshit.
I'm glad you're having this conversation but you should hear from folks on why it's all bunk too.

Great conversation. Jon asked questions I would like to know. I'd love to hear more from Cuban and others like Cuban, from a business perspective.

This Met fan loves what Mark Cuban is doing with the medication. I also think having small businesses strengthens our economy. I don’t have a small business, but I make an effort to support them by going to my local ones and shopping there when I can.

Jon, you gotta have a come to Jesus moment with Marc. He was looking to axe Lina Khan. He is NOT a friend to the working class.
