It's so wild living here in South Korea, knowing this madness is just one heavily fortified border away, it's so weird.

Has anybody else noticed that the only 'overweight' individual we ever see in North Korean videos is Kim Jong-un?

So silent.. no spontaneity, no lively conversation.. just fear to make it through one more day. Terrifying.

The most absurd thing is that they believe showing their skyscraper sized statues of their dear leaders and the "motivational brigades" is actually a positive display of North Korean life to the rest of the World where everyone else is shaking their heads in disbelief.

And remember: all this stuff is the stuff we are allowed to see. This is what the NK regieme deems positively representable for North Korea. Imagine the parts of the country that the NK regieme deems undesireable to show.

They cannot even form one sentence without mentioning him. How I wish their lives could be so different, more free like most of us. Every step in their lives is literally dictated.

4:17 yeah this guy is an actor. I’ve seen him pop up in a few other NK videos, but he does different stuff. All of these interviews are preplanned. That’s why you get the same people doing these interviews.

It’s a shame that content like this is not shared in our public school system. This type of information shared with grade school aged kids in the United States could very well make a difference in even our culture.

Best piece I've seen on North Korea in many years. The saddest place on earth.

Nice. Great perspective. It's weird how everything is a show. I wouldn't last 3 seconds there.

People are commenting on how well the children play their instruments.be assured that they are not allowed to play with other children or have any kind of normal childhood ALL THEY DO IS PRACTICE 8 to10
Hours a day. Same with the athletes, singers, dancers etc. it’s tortuous and against human rights. I’d rather see them relaxed and happy and not virtuosos.
