Moral of the story, avoid diet trends and eat whole foods sensibly, i.e., eat until you're satisfied NOT until you are full. Eat between sunrise and sunset, then stop eatig. Get plenty of good protein, fats, fiber and vegetables. Minimize the packaged and boxed foods. Cheers.

So much contradictory advice on these health topics over many of these recent talks. I feel like I want to put them all in a room and film them arguing their cases.

FASTING is incredible. It's amazing how much the body heals when we stop consumption!

UGH THIS IS THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF YOUR OTHER RECENT DOCTORS YOU INTERVIEWED, eat 16:8 for autophagy, fast 24 hours once in a while for stem cell creation, reduce insulin resistance, even heal diabetes for instance, improved mental health, improve and even heal dimentia, and exercise fasted. So frustrating!

I tried the old 'zone' diet, which was low carb, and I did lose weight- BUT eating higher protein so frequently took a LOT of attention. I had much more success when I was older with time restricted eating- wake 6 or 630am, a couple of black coffees because I like it ending 10:30am, then a good lunch, no snack, a good dinner at 6, and I'm DONE. Fits much better into retired life- FREEDOM from hunger and constant 'eating!

Lost 80 lbs in a year through fasting. I've kept it off. I've been overweight my whole life (53 female) and wish I had done this sooner. It's not for everyone, but I question experts who claim it doesn't work when it does. Oh, and I'm Bipolar. I still have to be on my meds, of course, but being healthy helps so much. Thank you, Dr. Pelz. Watch his first interview with her, not the second one. It's not as good. If you have problems with your weight, ease into the 12 hr and start increasing it slowly. Sometimes people jump into a 24-hour fast, and it knocks them down. Work up to it. What do you have to lose? Look up how long a person can go without food. Fascinating. Good luck. ❤ Oh, and I meet my protein. Meal prep. Do your homework.

16 hour fasting (early dinner late breakfast) makes my body feel clean and maintains a healthy weight.

I’ve experienced the very opposite of what these “experts” are saying. Think I’ll just stick with fasting.

I get it about stop eating when it gets dark. In the winter especially if it's been cloudy, it gets dark at 5pm., people are just getting off work let alone stop eating for the night.

I've fasted for 18-20 hours for months... and my visceral fat has decreased significantly. So, I'm not believing them completely

Exercising when fasted: the red-haired doctor obviously does not understand how ketones function in fat-adaptation and the role of beta-hydroxybutyrate in feeding muscles and the brain...an energy source which the brain and muscles prefer to glucose. The 3 types of cells that need glucose (red blood cells, a type of cell in the eye, and a type of cell in the kidney) can get all of the glucose they need through the process called denovo-gluconeogenesis, which every body can do. Calling Professor Bikman...please help these people.

This episode explains perfectly why most diets fail long term. If your cells and hormones aren’t healthy, the weight always comes back. I’ve been diving deeper into that “longevity first, fat loss second” idea on Foods That Heal — it really changes the game. 🔥

As a working mother of 3, I fasted 24 hours for 2 days a week, sometimes 3. I lost 38 kgs within a year. No special diet just stopped eating. Saw the weight drop off but I almost saw that lost too much body fat, so I stopped altogether. Everyones body is different, so it's never a copy and paste for someone else. Listen to your body not to people who think you'd fit in this "box"

so much inaccurate information; do your own research; fasting is NOT starving and does not cause more inflammation. SMH. Also, IF and TRE and essentially the same thing. "Only eat during an 8 hour window!" = time restricted eating. "Fast 16 hours a day!" = Intermittent Fasting. In this case, they are identical. YMMV. Do your own research. I recommend checking out Dr. Jason Fung.

Three day fasting corrected my gut issues. After 6 months of weekly 3 day fasts, I had no more gut problems and had not lost my muscles

All 4 of them don’t sound anywhere near as well researched as previous pro fast guests - I get that the effects on women are different but I feel like they are overlooking the huge benefits fasting in this talk

Only talking about extreme fasts and not addressing a much more common 24 hour fast left me wondering why I watched this.
